Tara
Co-Founder
Tara is a lifelong Alaskan that is resilient, driven, and deeply connected to her community and the outdoors. A proud mother of eight, she has built and run multiple businesses and works as a realtor, bringing a practical, results-driven approach to everything she does. She embodies the grit and determination that define Alaska’s spirit. She has taken up residence in Utah where we are building the other location.
Her real-world experience balancing business ownership with raising a large family. has shaped her into a resourceful and dependable leader. She understands how to build, manage, and sustain, without losing sight of what matters most.
Outside of building a business, she enjoys baking for her family and creating a home centered around connection and tradition. Whether in business or in life, she shows up with consistency, strength, and a clear sense of purpose.
Ashley
Marketing & Social Media Manager
Ashley Hoover is the Social Media Manager and Administrative Assistant at Ruck & Roam, where she blends storytelling, guest communication, and operations to help make outdoor adventure more accessible.
She holds a B.S. in Outdoor Studies: Environmental Interpretation & Human Impact from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. She hopes to work for the National Park Service as a park ranger, helping others build meaningful connections with public lands.
Ashley is passionate about making the outdoors feel approachable while promoting responsible, sustainable tourism. She believes that when people have the right tools and confidence to explore, they’re more likely to develop a lasting respect for the places they visit.
She’s on a mission to visit every U.S. National Park, and has explored over half so far.
Jessica
Co-Founder
As a busy mom, Jessica understands how challenging it can be to plan, pack, and prepare for outdoor trips, especially for families or those new to it. That reality is what helped shape her vision.
Ruck & Roam Outfitters was born from an idea that evolved over time. What started as one concept quickly grew into something bigger. It became a mission to remove barriers, simplify the process, and make the outdoors more accessible for everyone.
Jessica brings grit, real-life experience, and a deep passion for helping others step outside and explore with confidence.
