Snowshoeing is a simple and comfortable winter activity, but staying warm and dry is key to enjoying your time on the trail. Dressing properly will make the experience much more enjoyable, especially for first-timers.
SNOW GEAR (snow pants, winter jacket, hat, and gloves)
Waterproof or water-resistant snow pants and a warm winter jacket help keep snow and moisture out while insulating you from the cold. A hat and insulated gloves are essential, as extremities tend to get cold first when spending time outdoors in winter.WARM SOCKS
Thick, warm socks (preferably wool or a synthetic winter blend) will help keep your feet comfortable and dry. Avoid thin socks or cotton, which can trap moisture and lead to cold feet. One good pair is usually better than layering multiple thin socks.WINTER BOOTS *required
Sturdy winter boots are required, as the snowshoes strap directly onto your footwear. Boots should be insulated, waterproof, & have a solid sole for support. If your feet stay warm and dry, the entire snowshoeing experience becomes much more enjoyable.
